We submitted our planning application for the new school building to Birmingham City Council on 30 March 2015.

Birmingham City Council Planning Committee is expected to consider our planning application in June 2015. Members of the public can view and comment on our proposals by visiting the E-Planning Portal by clicking here. Our planning application reference is 2015/02637/PA.

Overview of Our Plans

In February 2015 we held a special community consultation event to unveil our plans for a brand new building on the existing site of ARK Kings Academy. The event was attended by local Councillors, members of the local community, and the Prospective Conservative MP for Northfield, Rachel Maclean.  The new building is part of the government funded Midlands Priority Schools Building Programme and work will begin this summer.

Work on the new building will start in summer 2015 with the building due to open in early 2017.  Our new school will provide a modern and inspiring learning environment for 800 pupils.  Included in the building will be a 3 court sports hall and dance studio with community access, climate controlled classrooms which maximise the use of natural light, outdoor amphitheatre and dining area, state of the art facilities for teaching technology subjects and cycle racks and shower facilities for staff.

Our new building will support us on our journey to becoming an outstanding school serving the local community. In 2014 we enjoyed record GCSE results, nearly doubling the previous year, and were ranked inside the top third of schools nationally for the value added to our students. We are on track to continue to rapidly raise standards.

Throughout this new build project ARK Kings Academy will remain fully operational. We are fortunate to have a large school site which can easily accommodate our current requirements as well as provide sufficient space for our new building.
