Anything worthwhile requires hard work
All of Ark Kings is extremely proud of Mr Kolawole for running the London Marathon.
Earlier this year he aspired to do something extra and to help others at the same time, he expected the challenge to be tough but took his training and preparation seriously and last weekend he achieved exactly what he set out to do (and along the way was able to help others). Here’s what he had to say:
If you'd told me this time last year, that I'd run the London Marathon, you'd be met with a burst of laughter! Nevertheless, last Sunday you would have found me pounding the streets of London for 5 hours, running 26.2 miles!
After a marathon, they say your thoughts are either 'never again!' or 'sign me up for the next one!’ For me it's definitely the latter. The atmosphere was incredible; the spectators really do carry you through those last 8 miles! The sense pride and achievement I feel after completing something I first thought was far beyond my capabilities is unparalleled. As I'm writing this I'm hearing about plans for the Birmingham Marathon to return (after 30 years) in October 2017! You'll more than likely see me at the start line!
I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support and well wishes. I managed to raise over £200 for Cancer Research UK, supporting their efforts to research into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the disease. If you'd like to make a donation, there's still time! You can find my fundraising page here.
