ARK Kings Academy Christmas Foodbank Appeal helps Local People in Crisis

ARK Kings Foodbank Christmas Charity Appeal

ARK Kings Academy's Christmas charity appeal raised an impressive 73kg of food for the B30 Foodbank in Cotteridge, enough to feed eight people for three days.

Throughout December students and staff from ARK Kings generously placed food as well as other household essentials into festively decorated boxes. B30 Foodbank then collected and distributed the emergency food to local people in crisis, in time for Christmas.

The foodbank appeal formed part of a wider programme of Christmas activities at ARK Kings Academy. Students also generously donated to Birmingham City Mission's children's toy appeal and spread festive cheer through their musical performances at a special Christmas concert for parents and students.

The B30 Foodbank is based out of The Cotteridge Church on Pershore Road South and is part of the Trussell Trust network of foodbanks. Trussell Trust foodbanks have seen the biggest rise in numbers given emergency food since the charity began in 2000. Almost 350,000 people have received at least three days emergency food from Trussell Trust foodbanks during the last 12 months, nearly 100,000 more than anticipated and close to triple the number helped in 2011-12.
