2014 Gets Off The Blocks with Schoolhall Athletics Competition
Last week our Year 7 & 8 students faced off against sixth other Birmingham secondary schools in the Sportshall Secondary indoor athletics competition. Our boys and girls faced tough competition from other schools teams and, despite committed performances, did not fare well in the rankings. Despite this, our students thoroughly enjoyed themselves and can’t wait to take part in future competitions.
The competition was held over two evenings at different schools. On Tuesday the boys team travelled to Bishop Challoner Catholic College whilst on Thursday Swanshurst School hosted female athletes. Year 7 boys placed last whilst Year 8 camesecond from last. Both Year 7 and 8 girls placed last although Year 8’s Makalia Bobb won 1st place in the triple jump competition.
ARK Kings Academy's Head of PE, Lucy Whatley, said:
"It's great to see so many ARK Kings Academy students taking part in competive sport. All our students showed great determination and their enthusiasm was undented, despite facing tough competition from other schools. Students have gained essential experience which they will draw upon in future, both on and off the track."
The competition was also notable for being the first school event to make use of our new minibus. Early reports indicate students were very impressed by the quality of the new minibus.
