Ark Kings celebrates World Book Day

Friday 01 March 2019

Ark Kings Academy celebrates World Book Day. As a school, we are passionate about reading and we make literacy a part of everything that we do. We believe wholeheartedly in the power of books to transform students’ lives and academic progress, within school, and beyond. As part of the celebrations, secondary students will have the opportunity to experience books being brought to life, as we transform our library into Narnia from The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, and our canteen into the Hogwarts Great Hall from the Harry Potter books.

There will also be several book-based activities throughout the day for students to enjoy. Staff will be dressing-up and we would also like to invite a selection of students to dress-up as their favourite book character with prizes for the best costumes. Students who wish to dress-up should propose their costume to their form tutor in advance of World Book Day with the best ideas being awarded a costume pass, allowing those students to dress-up for the day.

For details regarding costume expectations, please see the World Book Day letter.

A number of secondary students will also be visiting the primary site to support younger students with reading. This is a fantastic opportunity for our older students to develop their reading and mentoring skills, and also an opportunity to help inspire a love of reading in their primary peers.
