Year 5 Victorian Workshops

Saturday 19 June 2021

On Tuesday 15th and Wednesday 16th June 2021, Year 5 participated in Victorian workshops to complement their learning on the Industrial Revolution.

Pupils experienced what life was like as a Victorian child in school and as part of their Victorian lesson, they learnt the national anthem. Pupils also created their own Victorian penny and learnt the origins of the phrase 'to spend a penny'. Pupils made links to their learning about the Industrial Revolution by experiencing some of the working conditions of children and adults at the time. Pupils also had the opportunity to handle artefacts from the time as well carry out independent research on different aspects of the Victorian era.

Thank you to Humphs Histories for delivering bespoke workshops around our curriculum aims of language acquisition and developing proficiency in subject-specific knowledge and skills.
