All pupils must dress according to our Uniform Policy, which reflects our values and reinforces our school’s culture of high expectations and academic achievement.
Our school uniform is important to us because it is one way in which we identify ourselves as a school family and it promotes a strong, cohesive school identity which supports high standards and expectations in all areas of school life.
Requirements - primary
In the list below, * means that the item needs to be purchased from the academy uniform supplier. Details are below.
All clothes, including rucksack and trainers, should be clearly labelled with the child’s name, especially PE kit and trainers.
- White polo shirt (t-shirt material)
- Purple V neck sweatshirt (with or without academy logo)
- Black trousers or school skirt
- Formal white collared shirt buttoned to the neck, long or short sleeved
- Ark Kings Academy grey striped tie (clip on)

- Black school shoes
PE Kit
- White polo shirt (plain or with academy logo)

Expectations
- Black or white socks or black tights
- Plain black headscarves are permitted
- No jewellery except a wristwatch, studded earrings or jewellery for religious purposes
- Hair must be of a natural colour
- Hairstyles must be appropriate e.g. no Mohicans, tramlines, shaven partings or eyebrow designs
- Long hair must be tied back
- Simple hairbands/clips in academy colours (black, grey, white, purple, gold) may be worn
- No makeup, false nails or coloured nail varnish

- Grey fine knit V-neck jumper with grey stripe and our logo*
- White formal collared shirt for boys and girls

- Formal black trousers or knee-length skirt. Neither should be tight fitting

- Formal plain black shoes (no trainers)
PE Kit
- Purple polo shirt with academy logo*
- Plain black shorts or tracksuit bottoms
- Black or white socks
- Plain black or white trainers
Outdoor Clothing
- Smart plain jacket/coat
- During winter months, a plain woollen hat and scarf may be worn
- Baseball caps/snapbacks must not be worn
- Outdoor clothing should not be worn within the academy building.

- Academy Planner.

- Blue/black pens (at least 2)

- Scientific calculator (Years 10 and 11)
Accessories
- Hair must be of a natural colour

- Students are allowed to cover their head for religious/cultural purposes
- Head coverings must be plain black
- No form of jewellery may be worn. Small clear plastic bars that may be worn while at school if necessary.
- No makeup, false eyelashes, false nails, or coloured nail varnish
- Simple hairbands/clips in academy's colours.
Purchasing school uniform
Our uniform supplier is Clive Mark Schoolware.
The nearest store is located at 38 Poplar Road, Kings Heath, Birmingham, B14 7AD. Open from 9am until 5.30pm, Monday to Saturday.
Second-hand items
Any unwanted items of uniform may be given to the school office. We host regular second-hand uniform sales where good quality items can be picked up for low cost.
Lost property
We ask that all clothing is named, including shoes, so that lost items can be returned to their owner. The school cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage of pupils’ property and valuables. All mislaid items are placed in the lost property box located in the school office. Please ask the school office if you wish to look through this box. We endeavour to return all named property, but give unclaimed lost property to a local children’s charity at the end of term.
